Sola

Sola is a Japanese work created by Naoki Hisaya with Naru Nanao's original character design. Sola is a mixed media project that was initially revealed in the prologue of the manga published by MediaWorks in the Japanese manga magazine Dengeki Daioh on December 21, 2006. The manga's serialization ended on February 21, 2008, with Chako Abeno's illustrations. Broccoli Books was given the rights to distribute the manga in North America, and the first volume was released in June 2008. At Comiket 71 in December 2006, a short drama CD that also acted as a prologue to the series was released, and a second drama CD was released in May 2008. Between April and June 2007, an anime adaptation aired in Japan; the anime consisted of thirteen episodes, with two extra DVD-exclusive episodes following. Bandai Entertainment licensed the anime for distribution in North America as a subtitle-only box set with all fifteen episodes. The title Sola is pronounced similarly to the Japanese word sora. Sola was selected the best anime of the year by Japanese anime enthusiasts at the end of 2007.
