Phoenix Nights

Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights is a British sitcom about The Phoenix Club, a working men's club in Farnworth, Greater Manchester, in northern England. The program was created by Neil Fitzmaurice, Peter Kay, and Dave Spikey, produced by Goodnight Vienna Productions and Ovation Entertainments, and shown on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. Toni Baker and Peter Kay composed the whole musical score. Paddy McGuinness contributed additional content. Two series have been created, with their premieres being in 2001 and 2002. This show is a spin-off of the parody documentary series That Peter Kay Thing, which in turn spawned Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. At the 2002 British Comedy Awards, it won the People's Choice Award and was nominated for several others. Kay stars in several roles and also directed the second season. Kay confirmed on BBC Radio 1 in September 2006 that a third season of Phoenix Nights has been written, although it is unknown when it will be filmed. On 8 May 2007, Kay made an additional announcement promising the production of a new series. However, Dave Spikey stated in late-2009 interviews with The Sentinel and the Croydon Guardian that neither he nor co-writer Neil Fitzmaurice were aware of any plans to revive the series.
