Whangara chieftains since then have been regarded as the direct successors of Paikea. a patriarchal Future Zealand tribe, 11-year old Pai believes she is destined to become the new chief. It is customary for her grandpa Koro to appoint a guy as leader. For the sake of her destiny, Pai must battle Koro and a thousand years of tradition, which she adores more than anyone.
