In this story, Jussi Vares falls in love with a beautiful brunette, only to lose her in a terrible way. Before long, Sole's body is found in a bird-watching tower after they've been together for awhile. When Vares says he can help solve a mystery about messy denunciation letters, the investigation comes to an end. We have to go through a lot of things before the letters tell us what they are. Stahanov, a gun for hire, gets a job. During a rampage, Sole's brother finds his wife in the arms of the wrong man. He is joined by a black cat. In the end, the clues led to a person who was already dead, and more death was unavoidable.
