Bernard Rougerie, a successful writer/director who has hit a creativity block, moves out of the house and away from his wife in order to focus on writing the script for his next picture. When Bernard gets into his new building, the tenants are already in the midst of a rebellion against their cruel landlord. At first hesitant, he eventually decides to join their cause and even has an affair with local Anne, a young unemployed woman.
