Ideal is a British dark comedic sitcom that originally aired on BBC Three's digital channel. It was developed by Graham Duff and produced by BBC Comedy North and Baby Cow Productions. Johnny Vegas portrays Moz, a minor marijuana dealer. Salford, Greater Manchester, was chosen as the setting since Duff was familiar with the town from his time spent performing stand-up comedy there. The majority of the story takes place in Moz's apartment and centers on the diverse cast of personalities who visit Moz to purchase cannabis, socialize, or both. "Song of the Oss" is the final tune from British band Candidate's album Nuada: Music Inspired By the Film the Wicker Man. A number of tunes by the Californian hip hop group Ugly Duckling are also included in the series. It was broadcasted on BBC Three in the United Kingdom, 3e in Ireland, and ABC2 in Australia. Since the show's debut in 2005, seven seasons have aired; the most recent concluded on 30 June 2011. The BBC canceled Ideal following the airing of its sixth season. Following the announcement, author and creator Graham Duff sent the following letter to fans: "Some of you may have heard that the BBC has decided not to order a ninth season of Ideal. The explanation provided was that the new channel controller wished to do a thorough search. It is both a source of pride and frustration that, at the time of its demise, Ideal was attracting its largest audiences, most prominent guest stars, and greatest reviews ever. From the United States to Finland and beyond, the show is now broadcast in an unprecedented number of nations." Fans have started a petition for the show's survival.
