Studio 54
People thought of Studio 54 as not just a nightclub, but also as a way to remember a whole time. There were two co-owners, Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, who were both from Brooklyn. They seemed to come out of nowhere to start a new kind of social group in New York City. It's been 39 years since the velvet rope was first hung across the club's hallowed front door.
