When an 18-year-old talented but troubled artist makes a friend with an elderly alcoholic painter who has turned his back on both art and life, the two of them start to learn from each other. The two have what at first seems to be a strained relationship, but it isn't. That's what the kid wants. He wants to know everything the master has kept inside his head and heart. The old master hasn't been very good to himself. It doesn't seem like his life is worth living to him until the little boy rekindles his interest in his work and gives him the will to live.
