A tale of unearthly fear revolving around the Gardner family, who, in an effort to flee the rat race of the 21st century, uproot their lives and migrate to a lonely farmstead in rural New England. They are in the process of adjusting to their new existence when a meteorite smashes into the front yard of their home. It appears as though the enigmatic aerolite is dissolving into the ground, imbuing both the terrain and the space-time continuum with a peculiar hue that seems to come from another world. The Gardner family learns, much to their dread, that this extraterrestrial power is gradually changing every life form that it comes into contact with, including themselves.
