In the enchanted world in which Ella resides, a fairy godmother visits the birth of every child and bestows upon them a special "gift" that exemplifies that child's particular brand of goodness. The one thing that may be considered Ella's "gift," nevertheless, is her obedience. Once Ella discovers that she is in the power of various nefarious individuals who she quite literally cannot ignore, her birthright reveals itself to be quite the curse that it was always intended to be. Ella, who is resolved to take back control of her life and the decisions she makes, embarks on a trip to locate her fairy godmother in the hopes that she would be able to remove the curse. Ella must outsmart a host of unpleasant hurdles, such as ogres, giants, wicked stepsisters, elves, and Prince Charmont's evil uncle, who wants to take over the crown and rule the country. The way, however, isn't easy; in order to succeed, Ella must overcome these challenges.
