American police procedural and legal drama Women's Murder Club ran on ABC from October 12, 2007, to May 13, 2008. The show takes place in San Francisco, California, and is based on James Patterson's "Women's Murder Club" book series. Along with Patterson, Joe Simpson, Brett Ratner, and R. Scott Gemmill, the creators of the series, Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, also served as executive producers. This person was also in charge of running the show, and Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts also worked as executive producers. Scott Winant was in charge of directing the pilot. The series was made by 20th Century Fox Television and first aired on Friday nights at 9:00PM Eastern/8:00PM Central. ABC commissioned three more scripts on October 31, 2007. On February 23, 2008, it was announced that the show would return in late April with three episodes. This was two weeks after the show was almost canceled. On March 31, 2008, it was announced that Women's Murder Club would replace Boston Legal with three new episodes starting on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 10:00PM Eastern/9:00PM Central. On May 12, 2008, ABC Television confirmed that there would not be a second season.
