The American serial drama television series Vanished is produced by 20th Century Fox. The series made its debut on Fox on August 21, 2006, and its final episode aired on November 10, 2006. The series opens in Atlanta, Georgia, with the mysterious disappearance of the senator's wife, which is soon shown to be part of a larger plot. The missing woman's family, two FBI agents, a journalist and her lover/cameraman are all lured into a mystery with political and religious implications. The show was conceived by CSI writer Josh Berman and is executive produced by Mimi Leder, who also serves as the show's director, and Paul Redford. The planned 22-episode series was ordered to conclude after the thirteenth episode, according to USA Today on October26, 2006. The story arc of finding Sara Collins was to be concluded, with the mystery of a bigger conspiracy left unresolved if the series were to be prolonged. On November 16, 2006, Fox revealed that the series would conclude with a December episode. The last episode of Vanished debuted online on December 8, 2006. A few months before to the show's cancellation, the production staff was instructed to reveal Sara's destiny by the thirteenth episode, but no other storylines were resolved.
