The Virginian

There were 249 episodes of The Virginian, which ran from 1962 to 1971 on NBC and featured James Drury and Doug McClure as frontiersmen. These episodes were created as an offshoot of the summer series "Decision," which originally aired in 1958. The Virginian was the first 90-minute western series to be filmed in color and shown on television in 1961. It lasted nine seasons, making it the third longest-running western on television. Gunsmoke had 20 seasons and 635 episodes before it, whereas Bonanza had 14 seasons and 430 episodes.
