Cassie Blake relocates to her grandmother's house in the modest community of Chance Harbor, Washington, after the tragic loss of her mother, who was killed in a fire. Strange and terrifying occurrences start to take place around her as she gets to know her fellow high school students. They are all direct descendants of powerful witches, and they have been waiting for Cassie to join them so that they can start a new generation of the Secret Circle. They do not yet know that darker powers are at work and that Cassie's mother's passing may not have been an accident. This is something that they do not know.
