The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show

The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show is an American animated television series that aired on the ABC and NBC networks from November19,1959, until June27, 1964. The series is designed as a variety show, with the major feature being the serialized adventures of the two title characters, the anthropomorphic moose Bullwinkle and the flying squirrel Rocky. It is produced by Jay Ward Productions. Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale, two Russian-like spies, are the main antagonists in most of their exploits. Dudley Do-Right, Peabody's Improbable History, and Fractured Fairy Tales are among the supporting features. Rocky & Bullwinkle is noted for its excellent writing and witty humor. It appealed to both adults and children, combining puns, cultural and topical satire, and self-referential humor. It was also one of the first cartoons to have its animation outsourced; storyboards were sent to Gamma Productions, a Mexican studio that Total Television also used. As a result, the graphics appears choppy and rough, and the animation is quite limited, especially by television animation standards. Those who have seen the series, however, have long held it in high regard; some commentators regarded it as a well-written radio show with visuals.
