The Ren & Stimpy Show

Ren & Stimpy is an American animated TV sitcom created by John Kricfalusi. It aired on Nickelodeon on August11,1991, along with Rugrats and Doug. The series follows Ren Höek, an emotionally unstable chihuahua, and Stimpson J. Cat, a good-natured cat. Five seasons were shown. During and after its existence, the show gained critical acclaim and developed a cult following. Some critics credit it with paving the way for satirical animated cartoons like Beavis and Butthead and South Park. Throughout its tenure, The Ren & Stimpy Show was controversial for its off-color comedy, sexual innuendo, and violence, leading to disputes with Nickelodeon's Standards and Practices department. A Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon" spin-off premiered on Spike in 2003 but was discontinued soon after.
