The Outsider

The Outsider was about David Ross, a lone wolf private investigator who is usually in the middle of the action. Darren McGavin portrayed Ross, a man who lived in an eccentric and perilous environment. The series aired for one season on NBC and served as a sort of predecessor to The Rockford Files in that it featured a solitary private investigator who had previously served time in prison for a crime he didn't commit and who struggled to adapt to a quickly changing environment.
