The Odyssey

An Emmy-and Golden Globe-nominated 1997 American fantasy–adventure television miniseries called The Odyssey, it was released on PBS and aired from September to December of that year. The miniseries, directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, premiered on NBC on May 18 and 19, 1997, in two parts. "Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or a Special" was later awarded to the series. Epic poetry The Odyssey, which is attributed to Homer, forms the basis of the series. It was shot in Malta, Turkey, and other Mediterranean countries, as well as sections of England, where the plot takes place. Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, Irene Pappas, Isabella Rossellini, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Lee, and Vanessa L. Williams are all part of the international all-star cast.
