A multi-camera comedy about a close-knit, sports-obsessed family living in Boston, whose somewhat athletically challenged son, Ronny, is chosen by his father to be his assistant high school basketball coach, much to the surprise of his more qualified siblings. Ronny's father is a high school basketball coach. Ronny is obsessed with the idea of uprooting his life, getting involved in the local singles community, and meeting someone special. It is not the fact that her beloved son is gay that has Marjorie, his devastated mother, unhappy; rather, it is the fact that he wants to leave Boston and his family. Ronny's plans are altered, however, when his politically insensitive and outspoken father, Arthur, surprises everyone with his pick for an assistant. Ronny's option for an assistant is a woman. Ronny, who was moved by his father's offer, decides to pursue a whole new path in life, and he can be certain that his supportive family, which consists of his twin brothers Sean and Gerard as well as his sister Jackie, would have a very strong opinion on this decision.
