The Mary Tyler Moore Show

The Mary Tyler Moore Show was a CBS comedy produced by James L. Brooks and Allan Burns that aired from 1970 to 1977. The show marked a television first, with the principal character being the first never-married, independent career woman: "Moore played Mary Richards, a single woman in her thirties, in a way that set her apart from other single TV women at the time. She wasn't widowed, divorced, or looking for a partner to support her." It has also been called "one of the most renowned television programs ever created" in the history of US television. It received tremendous praise from reviewers, including three consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, and it was recognized long after the final episode aired.
