A Hanna-Barbera-produced animated sitcom, The Jetsons, aired in primetime from 1962 to 1963, then as part of a weekday/weekend morning programming block dubbed The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera, from 1987 to 1988, From 1984-1987, there were also new episodes. In the same vein as The Flintstones, it was Hanna-space-age Barbera's counterpart. On Boomerang, there are a lot of reruns. Jetsons live in a futuristic utopia of complex robots, aliens, and holograms powered by birds and dinosaurs. A total of 24 episodes were produced for the original series, which aired on ABC every Sunday night from September 23, 1962, to September 8, 1963 in primetime reruns. It was the first ABC-TV show ever to be shown in color at the time of its launch. Unlike the first two seasons of The Flintstones, which were filmed in color, the show was aired in black and white. On Saturday mornings, the show ran for decades, beginning with ABC in the 1963-64 season and then moving to CBS and NBC in the following seasons.
