The Games

The Australian TV show The Games was a fake documentary about the 2000 Summer Olympics, which were held in Sydney. The show was first shown on ABC, and each season had 13 episodes. The first season aired in 1998, and the second in 2000. John Clarke and Bryan Dawe were two satirists who were in "The Games." Gina Riley, an Australian comedian, and actor Nicholas Bell were also in the show. John Clarke and Ross Stevenson wrote it. The series was about the Sydney Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games. It made fun of corruption and cronyism in the Olympic movement, bureaucratic incompetence in the New South Wales public service, and unethical behavior in politics and the media. One strange thing about the show was that the characters had the same names as the actors who played them. This was done to make it seem more like a documentary about the Sydney Games.
