That Girl is a sitcom that originated in the United States and aired on ABC from 1966 through 1971. It features Marlo Thomas as the titular character Ann Marie, a want tobe actress who leaves her birthplace of Brewster, New York, in order to try her luck in the entertainment industry in New York City. In order to provide for herself in the time between her different acting auditions and little parts, Ann is forced to work a variety of unusual jobs classified as temporary. Donald Hollinger, a journalist for Newsview Magazine, was portrayed by Ted Bessell, while Lew Marie and Helen Marie, her worried parents, were portrayed by Lew Parker and Rosemary DeCamp, respectively. The roles of Ann and Donald's pals were played by Bernie Kopell, Ruth Buzzi, and Reva Rose. Writers Bill Persky and Sam Denoff, who had previously worked as head writers on The Dick Van Dyke Show in the earlier part of the 1960s, came up with the concept for That Girl.
