Sykes
Sykes is a British sitcom that aired from 1972 to 1979 on BBC 1. It was written by Eric Sykes, who had previously co-starred with Hattie Jacques in Sykes and A... and Sykes and a Big, Big Show. It starred Eric Sykes and Hattie Jacques. 43 colour episodes from the 1970s were remakes of episodes from the 1960s black and white series, such as "Bus" based on "Sykes and a Following" from 1964 and "Stranger" featuring Peter Sellers based on "Sykes and a Stranger" from 1961. The idea of Sykes was identical to that of Sykes and A..., with Sykes, Jacques, Richard Wattis, and Deryck Guyler reprising their earlier roles. The series ended on October 6, 1980, when actress Hattie Jacques died of a heart attack.
