Steins;Gate 0
The true tragic origin of Steins;Gate begins with the eccentric mad scientist Okabe, who is struggling to recover after a botched attempt to save Kurisu. He chooses to give up and abandons his vibrant scientist alter ego in order to forget the past. When everything appears to be normal, he is seemingly sent back in time by meeting an acquaintance of Kurisu, who informs him that they have began developing a gadget that preserves a human's memory and makes a simulation of them with their features and personality. Okabe begins testing and discovers that the Kurisu simulation has brought back grief and even additional unanticipated tragedies. Zero is a side narrative that investigates events from the Beta Attractor Field's future that contribute to the original story's conclusion.
