Queer as Folk

"Queer as Folk," a 1999 British television series, follows the lives of three gay men who live on Canal Street, a neighborhood of Manchester's gay town. Russell T Davies wrote both Queer as Folk and Queer as Folk 2. As part of Channel 4's 25th anniversary celebrations, the first series was re-aired on More 4 between October 14 and October 18, 2007. The Red Production Company created Queer as Folk on Channel 4. The phrase "there's nowt so queer as folk," which means "there's nothing as unusual as people," is a word play on the modern-day English synonym for "queer," which is homosexual. The show's original title was Queer as Fuck at the recommendation of Channel 4 executives, but it was renamed to its current title during development and pre-production before returning to it.
