Ni Hao, Kai-Lan is a Nickelodeon and Noggin children's television show that premiered on November 5, 2007 and December 15, 2008, respectively. It also aired on Treehouse TV, a Canadian television channel. In Israel, the show has been broadcast on Nickelodeon since March 2009. Ni Hao, Kai-lan is based on the show's creator Karen Chau's early memories of growing up in a bicultural household. "Ni hao" is Mandarin for "hello," and Chau was given the Chinese name Kai-Lan at birth, which was later anglicized to Karen.
