As a dentist and a family guy, Ben Harper enjoys a decent level of success. Mid-life crisis and trying to deal with the strange reality of raising teenagers are also affecting him. Susan, his wife, appears to be happy and enjoys her profession as a tour guide in London, but at home her cooking skills are less successful. Their three children, Nick, Janey, and Michael, are as dissimilar as chalk and cheese in their parents' eyes. In his gap year, Nick(19) doesn't get past the couch or the employment center, Janey(16) is sharp as a point and on the cusp of adulthood, and Michael(12) is a computer-nerdy 12 year old who has only recently discovered girls.
