L.A. Law

This American legal drama aired on NBC from September 15, 1986 through May 19, 1994 for a total of eight seasons. This Steven Bochco/Terry Louise Fisher production featured several of the director's signature elements, such as a vast number of intertwined plot threads, social drama, and outlandish humor. Abortion, racial discrimination, homosexual rights, homophobia, sexual harassment and domestic violence were all subjects that were prominent in the show during its run in the 1980s and 1990s. The series often depicted societal difficulties between the wealthy senior lawyer characters and their less well-paid subordinate staff members. Fans and critics alike loved the series, which earned 15 Emmy Awards, four of which were for Outstanding Drama Series.
