Kindred: The Embraced is a television series created by John Leekley Productions and Spelling Television in the United States. The series, loosely inspired on the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade, debuted on Fox on April 2, 1996, and lasted eight episodes before being canceled on May 9, 1996. While investigating an alleged mobster, Julian Luna, San Francisco Police Detective Frank Kohanek discovers his city is home to countless vampires. Julian is the city's "prince," ruling over five clans of vampires known collectively as "The Kindred." The vampires exist by "masquerading" as humans, and Julian carefully enforces the regulations that govern them to maintain their anonymity. Julian and Frank create an uneasy alliance as they collaborate to avoid a vampire war, and Julian fights with his romantic affections for human reporter Caitlin Byrne. The series' eight episodes have been published on VHS and DVD.
