The series is rated TV-Y7 and was created and is executive produced by Jim O'Doherty. It follows the karate instructor at an under-performing martial arts academy, who is played by Jason Earles, and his five misfit students, who are played by Leo Howard, Dylan Riley Snyder, Mateo Arias, Olivia Holt, and Alex Christian Jones. The news that the show would continue for a second season was delivered by Disney XD on September 20th, 2011. The debut of the second season of the show took place on April2, 2012. Disney XD made the announcement on November5,2012, that the series would continue for a third season and that production would begin in January 2013. On April1,2013, the first episode of the third season was broadcast. In the third season, Alex Christian Jones will not be playing a major role in the cast. In August of2013, Disney XD announced that they had placed an order for a fourth season of the series, which is planned to premiere in 2014. Olivia Holt has decided to leave the cast of the fourth season in order to star in the upcoming Disney Channel series I Didn't Do It.
