Kath & Kim is an American adaptation of the Australian sitcom Kath & Kim, which starred Selma Blair and Molly Shannon. The series began on October 9, 2008, on NBC. Jane Turner and Gina Riley, the original stars of the Australian version, also act as executive producers and advisors for this version, which is co-produced by Reveille Productions and Universal Media Studios. The first episode ran on the Seven Network in Australia on Sunday, October 12, and the show was canceled after the second episode the following week. After the initial screening of the ninth episode, "Friends," the series was relegated to the 11 p.m. Monday time slot and subsequently pre-empted for the 2009 Australian Open. Kath & Kim was given a full season order of 22 episodes by NBC on October 31, 2008, despite early lackluster ratings and mixed reviews from television reviewers. On January 15, 2009, NBC reduced the number of episodes from 22 to 17. The season finale of the show aired on March 12, 2009. NBC confirmed the series' termination on May 19, 2009.
