Julia
Julia is a popular American sitcom that was one of the first to feature an African American woman in a non-stereotypical position. Previous television series had African American lead characters, but they were usually servants. Diahann Carroll stars in the sitcom, which aired on NBC for 86 episodes from September 17, 1968 to March 23, 1971. Savannah Productions, Inc., Hanncar Productions, Inc., and 20th Century-Fox Television produced the show. Mama's Man was the planned series title during pre-production. The series was also notable for being one of the few situation comedies without a laugh track in the late 1960s; however, when the series was republished for syndication and cable rebroadcasts in the late 1980s, 20th Century-Fox Television inserted them.
