Jack Taylor

The Irish television drama Jack Taylor is based on a series of novels by Ken Bruen. The series is set in Galway and stars Iain Glen in the title role of Jack Taylor, a former Garda Sochána officer who becomes a "finder" after quitting the force. Taylor is a man who searches for clues in places where others have not. In addition, he knows his hometown's streets like the back of his hand. The series premiered on TV3 in Ireland on 2 August 2010, and afterwards shown with Dutch subtitles on Canvas in Belgium. On February 21, 2013, it debuted on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the series is available on DVD. The critical reception has been mixed. Bernice Harrison of The Irish Times felt that Glen's voiceovers, which gave the character a film noir vibe, ruined the series. However, David Stephenson of the Daily Express stated that the first episode's opening sequence caught him. An actual private investigator who was interviewed by Laura Barnett of The Guardian stated that he found the series interesting, but that it did not always accurately reflect his profession.
