CBS Productions and Leonard Freeman create Hawaii Five-O. The show, which was set in Hawaii and broadcast for 12 seasons from 1968 to 1980, is still available in repeats. Jack Lord played Detective Lieutenant Steve McGarrett, chief of a special state police task squad patterned on a 1940s outfit. Morton Stevens' theme tune was particularly well-received. Many episodes ended with McGarrett telling his subordinate to "Book 'em, Danno!" and sometimes stating a charge like "murder one."
