This is the true American story of a storied family feud that raged on for decades and came dangerously close to igniting a war between Kentucky and West Virginia. The legend of Devil Anse Hatfield and Randall McCoy is where the Hatfield-McCoy saga gets its start. Close friends and comrades until near the end of the Civil War, they return to their neighboring homes — Hatfield in West Virginia, and McCoy just across the Tug River border in Kentucky — to find increasing tensions, misunderstandings, and resentments that soon explode into all-out warfare between their families. As the level of hostility between the two governments continues to rise, friends, neighbors, and even forces from other countries join the conflict, bringing the two states dangerously close to starting another civil war.
