A bizarre event known as a "spacequake" ravaged the core of Eurasia thirty years ago, killing at least 150 million people. Smaller spacequakes have plagued the world on an intermittent basis since then. Shido Itsuka, a seemingly average high schooler, encounters a mystery girl near the epicenter of a spacequake and discovers she is one of the "Spirits" who are the true source of the spacequakes that occur when they emerge in the world. He is hired to use his strange ability to seal the Spirits' abilities, preventing them from posing a threat to humanity. The catch is that in order to seal a Spirit's power, he must have her fall in love with him and kiss him.
