Dante
Howard Duff stars as Willie Dante, a former gambler who runs a San Francisco nightclub. Alan Mowbray played Maitre d' Stewart Styles, Tom D'Andrea was Dante's "man Friday," and Mort Mills was Lt. Bob Malone. Dante says he's moved on, but he's kept Stewart and Biff as friends. His club is legal, but neither the police nor the mob think he's done with the criminal underbelly. Dante's former criminal associates begin showing up to the club to recruit him. Dick Powell played Dante in eight episodes of Four Star Playhouse, scripted by Blake Edwards, who wrote Richard Diamond, Private Detective for Powell. Willie runs an illicit gambling enterprise in the "Inferno," which authorities take down. Only Mowbray, who played a millionaire who lost away his riches, was cast in the series. The Best in Mystery rebroadcast these episodes.
