Crossroads

Cult British soap drama based on fictional motel outside Birmingham, England, called "Crossroads". The commercial ITV network initially carried the programme, which was created by Hazel Adair and Peter Ling, from 1964 until 1988. Cheap production values were synonymous with ATV in the 1970s and early 1980s, when it was produced by Central. However, in 2001, Carlton Television brought the show back in a new, glitzier incarnation, only for it to be axed once more in 2003. After Tony Hatch wrote the original theme music, Paul McCartney used it in his 1975 album, Venus and Mars. Raf Ravenscroft and Max Early penned a fresh arrangement for the series' 1987 relaunch as Crossroads, Kings Oak.
