Children of the Whales

Chakuro, who is only 14 years old, is the archivist of the Mud Whale, a nearly utopian island that floats on a sea of sand. Nine out of ten people who live in the Mud Whale have been given the gift and curse of being able to use saimia, which are special powers that make them die young. Chakuro and his friends have been to other islands by accident, but they have never met, seen, or even heard of a person from a different island. Chakuro goes to an island as big as the Mud Whale one day and meets a girl who will change his life.
