Children in Need
The BBC's UK charity is Children in Need. It has raised over £600 million to help disadvantaged children and young adults in the UK since 1980. An annual telethon, conducted in November and broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD from 7:30pm to 2am, is one of the highlights. The mascot of BBC Children in Need is "Pudsey Bear," and Terry Wogan has hosted the show for many years. The BBC Children in Need telethon is one of three high-profile British telethons, albeit it is the only one that benefits the BBC. The other two telethons, Red Nose Day and Sport Relief, all benefit the Comic Relief organization. The 2012 appeal took place on November 16th.
