Birds of a Feather is a British sitcom that aired on BBC One from 1989 to 1998 and then on ITV beginning in 2013. It starred Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson, and Lesley Joseph, and was conceived by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, who also wrote several episodes along with a large number of other authors. When their husbands are taken to prison for armed robbery, Tracey Stubbs and Sharon Theodopolopodos are drawn together in the first episode. Sharon, formerly of an Edmonton municipal apartment, relocates to Tracey's luxurious home in Chigwell, Essex. Dorien Green, their next-door neighbor and later friend, is a middle-aged married lady who has relationships with younger men on a regular basis. In later series, Hainault replaces London as the setting. After nine years, the series ended on Christmas Eve 1998. On 3 March2009, The Mirror announced that the legendary sitcom would return, stating that Lesley Joseph, Pauline Quirke, and Linda Robson have all been requested by the sitcom's creators to return for another series. According to reports, Quirke stated that they would accept the challenge if the writers came up with good concepts. After these rumors of a return in early 2009, nothing else was stated. Nevertheless, in July2012, Lesley Joseph hinted that Birds of a Feather could return for a second season following a successful stage tour.
