Big Day, originally named A Day in the Life, is an American situation comedy that debuted on ABC on November 28, 2006, and ran through January 30, 2007. Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa co-produced the series for Sony Pictures Television, which was directed by Michael Spiller. The series broadcast in Canada on CanWest's Global and CH stations. It was intended to premiere on October5,2006, alongside Notes from the Underbelly, but ABC made a last-minute scheduling alteration by moving Ugly Betty to Thursday, thereby replacing both sitcoms whose "buzz" was not particularly promising. Big Day aired every Tuesday at 9:00/8:00c. The Knights of Prosperity, another new sitcom with a higher "buzz," was supposed to occupy the hour, but ABC shifted it to Wednesdays to make Big Day a priority. Big Day was a ratings flop, according to the results. When Big Day's first season finished on January30,2007, only 12 of the 13 produced episodes aired, leaving the 13th episode, titled The $10,000 Check, unaired. After the network revealed its 2007-2008 fall schedule on May15,2007, ABC officially cancelled the show. From 2007 until2008, a film based on the show was cancelled twice in development. In 2010, a remake of the film adaption is in the works.
