NBC is developing a new primetime variety show that will star Neil Patrick Harris, winner of five Emmy Awards. The show will be based on "Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway," a show that is extremely popular in the United Kingdom. The event will include comedic skits, musical numbers, miniature game shows, pranks caught on hidden camera played on celebrities, and cameos by A-list celebrities. Harris, who has previously hosted the Emmy Awards and the Tony Awards and who was just just announced as the host of the Academy Awards in2015, will bring his multifaceted skills to the forefront of this brand-new hour-long series. Harris recently appeared as a co-star in David Fincher's film "Gone Girl," and he just ended a run on Broadway as the lead in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," for which he won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. Both of these performances earned him the award. In recognition of his performance as Barney Stinson on the NBC sitcom "How I Met Your Mother," for which he was nominated for both the Emmy Award and the Golden Globe Award, he portrayed the character for all nine seasons of the series.
