Being Erica is a CBC comedy-drama television series that aired from January 5, 2009 until December 12, 2011. The CBC originally advertised the series as The Session, but it was renamed Being Erica before it debuted in 2009. It was created by Jana Sinyor. Temple Street Productions produces it, while BBC Worldwide distributes it abroad. Erin Karpluk plays Erica Strange, a woman who begins attending a therapist to deal with regrets in her life, only to learn the therapist has the capacity to send her back in time to relive and even change these events. The second season premiered in Canada on September 22, 2009. Due to CBC funding limitations, only 12 episodes were produced for the second season. Being Erica was renewed for a third season of 13 episodes by the CBC on May 11, 2010. Soapnet also announced that it will be picking up the entire third season. Season 3 premiered on CBC Television on September 21, 2010, at 9 p.m. ET. Season 3 premiered on Soapnet in the United States on January 26, 2011. The fourth and last season of the show aired in the fall of 2011. Although the CBC never officially terminated the show, Sinyor told TV Guide during the fourth and final season run that the series had achieved a natural conclusion and that she had no intentions to develop or produce a fifth season.
