Andromeda is a Canadian/American science fiction television series created by Robert Hewitt Wolfe and produced by Roddenberry's widow, Majel Barrett. It is based on unfinished material by the late Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Kevin Sorbo as High Guard Captain Dylan Hunt in the film. The series aired from October 2, 2000, until May 13, 2005. Tribune Entertainment and Fireworks Entertainment co-produced Andromeda, which was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was broadcast on Global TV in Canada and syndicated on WGN and other networks in the United States. The Sci-Fi Channel picked it up halfway through the fourth season in the United States. Andromeda is one of two television programs based on ideas developed by Roddenberry in the 1960s and 1970s. In the mid-1970s, Roddenberry used the name Dylan Hunt for the protagonist of two TV movie pilots, Genesis II and Planet Earth, both of which had a similar idea. Earth: Final Conflict is the other posthumously produced series based on Roddenberry's notes.
