Zulu Dawn

In 1879, the British lose a lot of ground at the Battle of Isandlwana because they didn't have good leaders at the time. He wrote Zulu, which was a huge hit, 15 years before he wrote Zulu Dawn. Isandhlwana is set in 1879 and depicts the Battle of Isandhlwana, which was the worst defeat of the British army by natives. The British contingent was outnumbered 16-to-1. During the film's title sequence, King Cetshwayo's lively African village life is contrasted with aristocratic artifice under the arrogant eye of General Lord Chelmsford (Peter O'Toole), who looks down on everyone. Chelmsford is at the heart of everything that goes wrong, and he starts the war by giving his troops an ultimatum that doesn't seem to be very important. His aloofness makes him make more mistakes than he could have ever thought of.
