Two modern scientists "give birth" to a Neanderthal, which is the first one to walk the earth in about 35,000 years, to try to answer these questions. William is part "normal" kid and part science experiment, and his "parents" don't know how to raise him best. As William gets older, he learns about how people love and get close to each other. But the more he tries to live up to people's expectations, the more his primitive urges come out, which has tragic results for him and the people he loves.
