Before she was a teenager, Natasha attended a ball for the first time. Andrei has a crush on her and wants to marry her, but her father wants them to put their plans on hold. Whenever the prince is away, Natasha's heart aches for him. After meeting Anatol Kuragin, she quickly forgets about Andrei. Her intentions to elope with Anatol fall through at the last minute, and she regrets her decision to do so. Their engagement is over as soon as Bolkonsky hears about it.
