Vineland
Filmed at the City of Industry, the last drive-in theater in Los Angeles, this experimental documentary explores the area's dismal landscape. Dislocated Hollywood images laden with apocalyptic anxiety are re-framed and reflected via automobile windows and mirrors as the radio broadcast soundtrack collides with the projections on and around the various displays. Nocturnal landscapes are depicted as dreamy border zones in VINELAND that reveal multiple realities at the junction of nostalgia and alienation as VINELAND explores.
